Official Lifelines Opening!

Updated: Feb 8, 2023

You should hopefully know by now that Lifelines has just re-opened after an 8-week and £450k refurbishment.

Our Official Opening was held on Sunday 15th January and here are some photos and speech from this day....

Speech from Jason Goodall - Head of Leisure & Operations:

"In the absence of Jon, our CEO who is taking a well-deserved holiday. I’d just like to say a few quick words before we officially declare our new £450k Lifelines Health Club refurbishment open.

This must needed refurbishment has been in the planning for some time now and many hours have been put in behind the scenes to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible.

We had a budget to keep to and Jon, Martin, Michael and myself have done our upmost to stick to it but to also deliver the very best for our members, to which I feel we have achieved.

This wouldn’t have been possible without our excellent principal contractors, Driver Builders where Mick & Helen Driver, plus Andy did a brilliant job with their team to not only achieve this fantastic end result but also and rarely these days, to achieve it on time.

Everything from start to finish has gone extremely well from the temporary gym in the sports hall and squash courts to the logistics of ordering and moving of all the new equipment. Technogym were excellent in assisting throughout.

I’d like to thank all the staff and in particularly Michael; our gym manager for their hard-work, support and perseverance throughout the project. 8 weeks was a long time to keep going in our temporary gym, putting up with noise, communicating to and keeping members motivated, plus the organising of all the memberships. There has also been numerous attention to details with signage etc. that really finish off a great team effort. You all know who you are and the roles you have played, it is very much appreciated.

I would also like to thank the board of directors, some of whom are here today. They have been very supportive in the whole project and for agreeing to spend some of Venue 360’s money I think, very wisely.

And last but not least I’d like to thank the gym members. They have been very supportive and loyal in continuing their membership throughout the 8-weeks and have shown great attitudes in continuing their fitness in a different environment. They have also been extremely positive since we re-opened and it would seem that the investment and time to achieve this end goal has been well spent.

I have said enough, so would now like to hand you over to Raj and Amy who are going to cut the ribbon and declare our new gym officially open. Raj is the chairman of our Venue 360 board of directors, and Amy Rollinson, who is a bit of a fish out of water here but made Luton and England very proud at the commonwealth games last summer by amazingly winning a bronze medal in the 1m springboard diving competition.

Thank you both for coming in today and over to you Raj."
