Our top stories

Big Events in our Riverside Suite and Balcony Café Bar

The past month has been bustling with activity, hosting numerous corporate and sporting events in our versatile Riverside Suite and Balcony Café Bar.

Corporate Events with EasyJet

EasyJet recently held two major conference and team-building days at our venue. The daytime sessions were productive in the Riverside Suite, followed by lively team-building activities and a BBQ in our gardens. The evenings concluded with drinks and a DJ in our Balcony Café Bar, offering a perfect blend of business and leisure.

Muay Thai Fight Night

On Saturday, June 15th, we proudly hosted a spectacular Muay Thai fight night organised by Leapfrog Fight TV. The Riverside Suite was transformed into a thrilling arena complete with a full ring, digital screens, mood lighting, and a dramatic haze mist for the ring walks. Over 300 attendees from across the country either competed or enjoyed the action ringside, with the event also broadcast live on their subscription fight channel. Our sports hall provided an ideal space for fighters to train and warm up before stepping into the ring.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has booked events with us, and kudos to our events and hospitality teams for ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Balcony Café Bar employee of the month - well done Teona

This month’s Balcony Café Bar Employee of the Month is Teona. Teona doesn’t work too many shifts but you will see her almost every Sunday working behind the bar, and serving our customers with a smile. Always happy to help and eager to please, Teona has shown an exemplary work ethic since starting with us in December.

We thought it best to let the members do the talking this month so on that note;

“Teona is a first class employee who has the ‘can do’ attitude, friendly on service to all the members.” Lasho J (SGT)

“With a bright and lively personality, Teona applies herself to her job with customer focused and ‘can do’ attitude. Teona is always cleaning and serving customers with a very delightful approach. Great performance Teona.” Eddie

“From a customer perspective, Teona is a great addition to the team. Her attention to detail, courteous manner and smile stands out. If I was putting my ‘A Team’ together again - Teona would be part of it.” John

Congratulations Teona keep up the good work.

Louis Completes rearranged Parachute Jump!

We are happy to report that on Sunday 3rd June, gym member Louis Belizaire completed his skydive for Cancer Research. After several postponements, due to high winds, the weather conditions were perfect at last. Louis wishes to thank all those who donated, encouraged and supported him.

If you didn’t get round to making a donation, the fundraising page will remain open for a few more weeks. Thank you.

Danny Pymont smashing his way to victory

On Sunday 16th June our resident head tennis coach Danny Pymont triumphed in all 3 of his county final matches taking home the title of County mens champion for over 35’s singles and doubles as well as over 45’s singles. Many of you will recognise Danny from our termly kids tennis programme, tennis club events or grabbing a coffee from the bar! Congratulations Danny on a great achievement!

Lisa and family Conquer London to Brighton Bike Ride

On Father’s Day, June 16th, Lifelines instructor Lisa, along with her father and husband, Aaron, completed the challenging 25-mile London to Brighton Bike Ride. Despite the unpredictable weather in May, the trio remained dedicated to their training regimen by attending weekly spin classes and incorporating strength and resistance training into their routines.

Their efforts support a noble cause: raising funds for the Heart Disease charity. If you would like to contribute, please donate here

Heart and circulatory diseases are a serious concern, claiming the lives of 1 in 4 people in the UK. One significant risk factor is a lack of physical activity, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes. However, by increasing your physical activity, even through simple actions like walking or house cleaning, you can reduce your risk of heart and circulatory diseases by 35%.

Join us in supporting Lisa, her family, and this vital cause by staying active and making a donation.

Exercise of the Month!

This month, we’re highlighting the Adduction and Abduction exercises using the cable machine. These exercises are great for targeting leg muscles.

Abduction:

Wear the ankle harness and attach it to the cable.

Stand upright and push a straight leg out away from your body.

This movement works the abductors, or the muscles on the outside of your leg.

Adduction:

Turn around so your back is facing the cable machine.

Bring a straight leg across your body and past your other leg.

This movement targets the adductors, or the muscles on the inside of your leg.

Remember to keep your torso straight and hold on to the cable machine for stability. Start with a light weight and gradually increase as you become more comfortable with the movements. Always ask an instructor for a demonstration if you’re unsure of the proper form.

Challenge winners!

Well done to Ronnie and Marilyn who took part and won the Hip Thrust challenge last month and will receive a Venue 360 water bottle for their efforts! The Hip Thrust machine has certainly been a hit with members with glowing feedback since it was first introduced back in May.

July Challenge

This challenge requires members to complete all 4 of the Routine programs on the stair master, starting with the Glutes session, then lose weight session, then total body and finishing with the agility. You have 1 month to complete them all and don’t need to do them in one go so give it a try and ask an instructor to introduce you these sessions!

Hangout Luton

On Saturday 29th June Hangout Luton held one of their annual four seasons football tournaments designed to engage a wide audience of young people into sport. Hangout Luton are a non-profit organisation dedicated to engaging young individuals between the ages of 11 to 16 years in efforts to steer them away from anti-social behaviours. Their initiative aims to cultivate life and practical skills, bolster social and emotional development, and provide a range of activities, support sessions, and workshops. Their overarching goal is to create an environment that promotes personal growth, learning, and active participation in the community.

The day was a huge success with over 150 young people participating. Well done to everyone involved!

Marian retires to go on even more holidays and play even more golf!

Friday 28th June was a sad day for Venue 360 as Marian retired after being with us for 9 years. Marian came to us in 2015 after a career in the telecoms business and quickly settled in as part of our reception dream team.

The part-time role suited Marian perfectly as the shifts allowed her to go on holiday sometimes without even needing to officially take time off. Only our older members will understand how some of us called her Judith Chalmers :)

Marian is also a keen golfer and it is safe to say that if she isn’t working, attending an exercise class, on holiday or watching Luton Town FC, then she will be on the golf course instead!

Marian has been a great servant to Venue 360 over the years and we will all miss her.

Good luck in your retirement, enjoy more great holidays with your husband Gary and get that golf handicap down to single figures!
