An Evening of Excellence

We were delighted to again be the chosen venue for this year’s fantastic Excellence Awards evening. The Riverside Suite looked fantastic with their chosen theme ‘a garden party’.

The event itself recognised every day committed individuals and dedicated teams, going that extra mile to support local residents.

Numerous awards were given out on the evening from long service awards to employee of the year.

The organisers were delighted with how the evening went and wanted us to say a big thank you to all those who sponsored the event to make it all possible.

Exciting News: A New Coffee Machine is Brewing in the Balcony Cafe Bar!

We’re thrilled to announce that a brand-new coffee machine is on its way to our balcony café bar, set to arrive by mid-June!

After exploring the latest innovations at the London Coffee Festival, we’ve carefully selected a cutting-edge machine that’s sure to elevate your daily coffee ritual. This isn’t just any coffee machine, ours comes equipped with two state-of-the-art automatic latte art milk wands.

So, what’s the buzz about these wands? For the uninitiated, latte wands heat and texture milk to create that perfect finish for your espresso drinks.

Our new machine takes it to the next level with dual auto wands designed to produce milk that’s light and foamy for cappuccinos, and silky-smooth for lattes and flat whites. The best part? These wands operate hands-free, allowing our team to focus on prepping your cups, handling payments, and keeping service fast and friendly.

New Kettle Bells!

We have invested in extending the weight range of our kettle bells by adding 24kg and 32kg kettle bells requested by several members. If you would like some training on the use of the kettle bells please book yourself in with a member of the team.

Karate Clubs Combine for a Fantastic Day of Training and Grading

Ataru Shotokan Karate and Harpenden JKA Karate Club recently hosted a fantastic day of combined training and grading at Venue 360. The event featured three, one-hour sessions led by Sensei Dave Paulus, giving everyone lots to think about and focus on going forward.

Unlike many groups, the JKA does not award grades easily. Each and every one of the grading students were examined and passed showcasing their effort and spirit. Every-one has worked extremely hard and their passes were well deserved.

Thanks to all who attended for making it a great day! And thank you to all at Venue 360 for your help in making the day run smoothly.

In other news...

Hospitality Employee's of the Month

This month we want to thank and appreciate two members of our team. These two employees have both shone in the last six months. Always willing to help both staff and customers, they have supported the department without a second thought. They have pulled long shifts, late shifts, all weekenders and without any complaint.

They each have their own responsibilities, but have taken on even more to relieve some pressure on the department while the management team has been short staffed.

To our two amazing team leaders, Sheri and Luke, thank you for your loyalty and continued hard work and support. We all appreciate everything you do.

More Bumper Discs Arrive at Lifelines!

The colorful bumper weights that we use on the Primal rack have become more and more popular with members using them for the Hex bar as well as exercise on the Olympic bar. We have invested in 2 sets of 20kg. 2 sets of 15kg and 2 sets of 10kg so that more members can take advantage of them. We have also ordered some 2.5kg and 5kg Technogym discs, as again they are really popular in busy periods.

Winner of Lifelines Fantasy Dream team

Well done to Jordan who has won the Dream team title with 3869 points, Second place goes to Annie who missed out by 2 points on 3867 points, third place Gary on 3747 points and finally Keith on 3697! Jordon wins a free months membership for his efforts!

Exercise of the Month

Did you know using kettle bells can enhance better posture and core strength as well as improve balance and strength, we have listed some exercises that you may wish to try out in the gym that will motivate you by trying new training methods.

Kettle Bell Swing

Working lower back and legs, start from the upright position, with straight arms guiding kettle through legs and back up maintaining straight back throughout.

Goblet Squat

Working legs like a traditional squat, hold kettle by handle and bring down so elbows touch legs then either touch kettle on the floor or just return to the standing position.

Dead Lift

Working back and legs again, hold kettle by handle, keeping back straight bend knees and complete traditional dead lift, you may use a step for longer range of movement!

June ‘Hang Tough’ Challenge

Members are asked to hang off one of the pull up bars and hold this position as long as possible, the hold position must be in line with the shoulders. If you’re interested in giving it a go please ask a member of the team to time you!

Get involved in the Ampthill 5k for charity!

Last year, Venue 360 was delighted to be involved and support Dave Bateson and his chosen charity; ACT raise £16k in a fundraiser here in our Riverside Suite. This year, Dave and many others are putting on a 5K run / walk in Ampthill to continue raising money for cancer charities.

Running 5k is not just a great way to keep fit but is also a great way of socialising in a healthy environment. The Ampthill 5k on 29th June certainly promises to be that and over 500 people have already registered to take part!

Coach Alan Alexander Shines on the National Stage

Alan Alexander, our ‘Resident’ badminton coach who coaches junior performance squads, Sunday morning adult sessions and individual sessions here at Venue 360, has recently been practicing what he preaches by adding to his already impressive collection of badminton honours.

In April, Alan struck gold in the mixed doubles and claimed silver in the men’s doubles at the prestigious All England Seniors. He continued his winning streak in May with a gold medal in the men’s doubles at the Essex Masters.

Next up, Alan will be representing the England Masters team at the upcoming Nations Cup in Ronda, Spain this June.

Alan would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his sponsors – Central Sports, Acumen Plus, and Venue 360 – for their ongoing support.
