Ottilie’s charity bike ride

Good luck!

For those of you that have been members for many years, you will probably recognise Ottilie, our cheeky receptionist from 20ish years ago?

Ottilie worked on reception whilst at University but has since gone on to experience many challenges in life, no more so than firstly having a kidney transplant and then beating cancer.

Ottilie now lives in Mallorca and is an incredibly determined and inspirational person, winning numerous sprint cycling gold medals for GB in the world transplant games. Ottilie says “I’m not a huge fan of long distance rides, but I am going to ride my very own grand tour in aid of two amazing charities; UCARE (Urology Cancer Research and Education) and The Urology Foundation. This involves, 21 days of riding, over 2,500 kilometres, through 7 countries. With a day off every 7th/8th day, just like the pros do at Le Tour de France, La Vuelta et al.”

We were very honoured when Ottilie asked if we could be the starting point for her ride ‘back home’, leaving her beloved Luton at 9:30am on Today, 10th June 2022. We would love it if you could support Ottilie on the day by giving her a good send off and donating to her gofundme page.

Ottilie sums up the type of person she is and how we can all take inspiration from her in how she lists why she is doing this challenge / fundraiser:

1. To prove no matter what health issues or chronic illnesses you have, you can achieve many amazing things. If you look after your health and well-being you can accomplish insurmountable goals in life.

2. To try to say thank you to the incredible surgeons who saved me.

3. To encourage others to exercise on a more regular basis.

4. To ride home. If you would like to donate, please visit to her gofundme page gofund.me/dd91380e
